Robyn Fenty NH[22 (/ri'aen@/ (listen) ree-AN -@;[3][4][n 1] born on 20th February 1988) is a Barbadian singer, actress and businesswoman. Rihanna was born in Saint Michael, Barbados and was raised in Barbados. She auditioned for Evan Rogers, an American record producer, who requested her to make demo tapes in United States. After joining Def Jam, in 2005 the singer quickly became famous with the release of her two first studio albums, Music of the Sun (2005) & A Girl Like Me (2006). The albums heavily influenced by Caribbean music and climbed to the top ten positions on the US Billboard 200 Chart. Good Girl Gone Bad, Rihanna's third album, was heavily influenced by dance-pop. It made her an icon of sex in the music industry. Rihanna's debut Grammy Award was won for her hit song "Umbrella" that launched Rihanna into the spotlight of the world. In her subsequent studio albums Rated R (2009) and Loud (2010) and Talk That Talk (2011) and Unapologetic (2012) she continued to mix R&B as well as pop and dance genres. The last album was the first time she reached Billboard 200 number 1. A number of chart-topping tracks came out from the albums, including "Rude Boy", ("Only Girl in the World")" and "What's My Name?" ", "S&M", "We Discovered Love", "Where Have You Been" and "Diamonds". Anti (2016) was her eighth album. It showcased a new creativity after her departure from Def Jam. It reached the top spot in the US and featured "Work" which was her top charting single. In her music career, Rihanna has collaborated with various artists like Drake, Eminem, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Ne-Yo, and Shakira. With sales of over 250 million records worldwide, Rihanna is the second-best-selling female artist of all time. She has earned 14 number-ones and 31 top-ten hits in the US and 30 top-ten singles in the UK. Her awards include nine Grammy Awards, 13 American Music Awards (including the Icon Award), 12 Billboard Music Awards, six Guinness World Records, the NAACP's President's Award, and an Academy Award nomination. Time listed her as one of the 100 most influential people worldwide in the years 2012 and 2018. Forbes ranked her among the top 10 highest-paid stars in both 2012 and 2014.
